The new single-story house with an attic is situated on a sloping plot outside the urban plan in Markopoulo, facing north along the main municipal road of Myrrinountos. The building is designed as a permanent residence for a family of four. The rectangular volume of the house is placed perpendicular to the slope of the terrain and as close as possible to the rear boundary of the plot to maximize its elevation and take advantage of the northern view.
Access from the road is provided via a large ramp that leads to a flat concrete platform, serving as the base for the house, the outdoor parking area and the surrounding terraces. The remaining open space is left in its natural slope and is utilised for planting trees, shrubs and vegetables.
The house is developed on two levels: the ground floor and the attic. The ground floor includes a spacious open-plan living area with a living room, kitchen and dining area, which directly connects to the exterior through large glass openings. Additionally, it features a bedroom with a southern view of Mount Merenta, a bathroom and a small storage room. The attic accommodates two bedrooms, each with its own balcony, a second bathroom and a small kitchen.
The form of the house is simple, with large openings that favour the entry of natural light and the connection with the external environment. The mandatory roof is formed as a single-pitched roof, with a characteristic overhang towards the west.
The load-bearing structure of the house is made of heavy metal construction, with infill walls made of bricks and partition walls made of drywall. The building envelope is externally clad with thermal insulation and coated with earth-tone plaster, while the roof is covered with tiles.
The overall design of the residence aims to create a functional and economical structure that integrates discreetly into the natural environment and offers comfort and quality of life to its residents away from the bustling city.
